Catlan Nguyen’s demonstrates how she can make breaking news look as big and urgent as possible with how she built up the reporter toss showcasing. A major power outage was happening in the Uptown Neighborhood of New Orleans and a reporter was moved to it 5 minutes before the 5 a.m. started. She made use of a power outage map in the monitors next to the anchors and putting her live reporter in the monitors for the toss.

For Hispanic Heritage Month, the KING 5 weekend morning team brought live Mexican Folklórico to our viewers. This was Catlan Nguyen’s first time field producing and adapting to every curveball, including the performers not bringing a speaker to play their music.
